Ultra-thin Shim Strips: dimensions and quotation parameters.

The dimensions below help us review ultra-thin shim strips. State units and critical tolerances on the original drawing. The illustration explains the type of geometry; it does not define a standard size.

Quotation parameters for Ultra-thin Shim Strips
Length & widthDimension the strip envelope and any end notches. Identify the edges used for alignment.
Thickness by variantList the nominal thickness, thickness tolerance and quantity for every strip version.
Holes, slots & notchesProvide feature sizes and datum-based positions, with slot opening direction if the part slides around a fixing.
Straightness & flatnessState permissible bow, straightness and edge burrs, including how the strip is supported during inspection.
Material & quantityGive the exact metal grade, standard, temper or condition, quantity per revision and planned repeat orders.
Units & tolerancesUse mm or inches consistently. Mark the dimensions that control fit and the inspection datum.
Ultra-thin Shim Strips qualitative geometry and dimension reference
Ultra-thin Shim Strips · qualitative geometry reference. Not to scale, not a production drawing.

Thickness range, minimum features, tolerances, finish availability and delivery date are reviewed for your actual part. No catalog dimension or blanket machining tolerance is implied.

What we review
before cutting.

Cut contours, hole function and the way the plate meets its mating parts.

Long, delicate geometry

Length-to-width proportions, narrow sections and openings need handling review. State whether the strips must arrive individually separated or grouped.

Packing and identification

Provide variant labels and packing preferences. Thin strips should be protected against kinks, edge damage and mixing between thicknesses.

Material and finish
belong in the drawing.

Grade, environment and visible-face requirements are separate specification choices. Include them before quotation so the material and process route can be reviewed together.

Specify the grade

Specify the exact metal grade, shim-stock condition and thickness tolerance. Stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, copper and aluminium requests can be reviewed; availability in the requested thin product form is confirmed during quotation.

Compare material families and grades. Sourcing, product form and the processing route are confirmed for your drawing.

Define the finished surface

Specify the delivered surface condition and identify any coating, grinding, plating or masking requirements. Mark roughness and the faces or edges that need protection so the complete route can be reviewed.

Specify edge deburring, protective-film handling and packing if they affect the delivered part. Read the finish terminology guide.

Material options are reviewed against your drawing, grade, thickness and finishing needs. Stainless steel remains our core focus; sourcing and the manufacturing route are confirmed during quotation.

Inspect the features
that matter to your assembly.

Inspect length, width, thickness and feature positions. Agree how straightness and flatness are measured on a supported thin strip.

Provide the inspection datum, critical dimensions and any requested records with the inquiry. A model preview supports communication; the approved engineering drawing remains the manufacturing reference.

Quality & material requirements

Ultra-thin Shim Strips:
common questions.

Can strips include mounting slots?

Yes. Include the slot dimensions, positions and open or closed ends in your drawing for review.

Can you supply a selection of strip thicknesses?

List the thicknesses, tolerances and quantities. Each version is reviewed and identified separately in the quotation and packing plan.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send your ultra-thin shim strips drawing, grade, thickness or tube section, quantity, finish and critical dimensions. A clear PDF or image is accepted for review; a DXF supports flat cutting contours.

Can I request prototypes and production batches?

Include prototype quantity and expected repeat quantity in the inquiry. Batch size, process route and lead time are confirmed after the drawing and specification review.
